Lucas Bergvall’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been thrown into doubt, with reports claiming seven clubs are now monitoring the midfielder after his request to leave.
Lucas Bergvall’s decision to ask for a move away from Tottenham after joining in 2024 and impressing in his debut season has shocked supporters.
The 20-year-old is concerned about game time, with Spurs pushing to add more big-name midfielders this summer.
Tottenham have already placed an £80million bid for Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, which was rejected – while West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes has also been linked with the Lilywhites, raising doubts over Bergvall’s minutes, particularly with Spurs not competing in Europe.
Borussia Dortmund lead chase as seven clubs eye Bergvall
Tottenham now face a decision over Bergvall, whose request to leave has sparked interest from sides across Europe.
According to TeamTalk, as many as seven clubs are now understood to be closely monitoring the Swede’s situation, with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig among the strongest admirers.
Serie A sides Napoli, Inter Milan and AC Milan are also keeping tabs, while Chelsea and Aston Villa have made enquiries about the 20-year-old after previously trying to sign him in the winter window.
Bergvall prioritises Europe move as Spurs set valuation
TeamTalk also adds that Lucas Bergvall is not prioritising a move to another Premier League club, with a return to mainland Europe currently more appealing.
Spurs Web have since reported that Bayern Munich are also monitoring developments with Bergvall, while Nottingham Forest could move for the Swede if Manchester City sign Elliot Andersen.
If Bergvall does leave this summer, Tottenham are expected to demand a fee in the region of £45–50 million, which would place him among the club’s most expensive sales in recent history.
