Lucas Bergvall’s future is still far from secure despite the midfielder’s outstanding performances in Tottenham’s last few pre-season matches.
Some sources have reported over recent weeks that Tottenham have changed their stance on Bergvall and are prepared to keep him after Roberto De Zerbi informed the club that letting the Swede leave would be a mistake.
However, other reports have claimed that Spurs have failed to persuade the 20-year-old to stay, and that the player still wants to seek a new challenge away from North London.
The midfielder’s future is a subject that could dominate the headlines again as we enter the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Nottingham Forest expected to return with improved offer for Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall
Football Insider have now claimed that Nottingham Forest’s interest in the Spurs man has not gone away despite seeing an offer rejected for the player.
The report reveals that Oliver Glasner is a fan of Bergvall and has been the main driving force behind Forest’s pursuit of the Sweden international.
The outlet asserts that the former Djurgardens man remains ‘keen’ to leave Tottenham before the window slams shut as he faces serious competition for his place in the team.
The update adds that Newcastle could also line up another late bid for Bergvall after seeing their opening £46m offer turned down.
The website also spoke to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who said about the midfielder: “Forest are big admirers of the Swedish international and are very much interested in him, having already had a bid rejected for Bergvall this summer. I’m sure Oliver Glasner will be looking to revisit that situation if there is a possibility that a deal can be agreed.”
Sandro Tonali believes letting Bergvall go would be a mistake
According to Alasdair Gold, Bergvall has been training in his preferred double-pivot position during pre-season, and he has appreciated the minutes he has been getting in the role in the friendlies.
The Swede started alongside Sandro Tonali in the middle of the park against Hoffenheim and was arguably Tottenham’s best player as they emerged with a 3-0 win.
It appears that the Italian has been very impressed with his teammate, with Tonali describing Bergvall as a ‘top player’ on social media following Saturday’s game.
