Two interested parties are both waiting in the wings for Lucas Bergvall, after the latest developments at Tottenham regarding the midfielder’s future.

It has been widely reported since the start of the summer that the Swede is looking to leave Spurs in search of more game time after the Lilywhites strengthened their midfield with the signings of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Spurs have already rejected offers from Nottingham Forest and Newcastle for Bergvall, and there were even suggestions that Brighton were preparing a huge offer for the Tottenham youngster.

It appears that two of those three clubs have still not given up on their hopes of securing the 20-year-old’s signature.

Newcastle and Nottingham Forest set to make improved offers for Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall

Football Insider have claimed that the Magpies and the Tricky Trees are continuing to work on a possible deal for the Sweden international.

The report claims that Newcastle are now preparing a second formal bid for Bergvall while Forest are also expected to return with a second offer for the player soon.

This is because both clubs are aware that the midfielder remains ‘intent’ on pursuing a new challenge away from North London.

Both clubs are still ‘waiting in the wings’ for further indications that Bergvall’s exit is inevitable, with the North East club and the Midlands side remaining the ‘front-runners’ for the former Djugardens man.

De Zerbi has failed to convince Bergvall to stay at Spurs

Just a couple of days ago, TEAMtalk claimed that Tottenham have changed their stance on Bergvall and are prepared to keep him after De Zerbi informed them it would be a mistake to let him go.

The same report suggested that the Spurs boss had asked the midfielder to commit himself to the project at N17 until January.

However, this latest update from Football Insider claims that De Zerbi’s ‘desperate’ attempts to convince Bergvall to stay have been in vain.

Even though the Italian is reluctant to lose the Swede, the player has made it clear he wants to leave, with the Lilywhites now playing ‘hardball’ over a deal to maximise his value.
