Paul Merson gives his Crystal Palace v Spurs prediction

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has shared his opinion on who he thinks will come out on top in this evening’s match between Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have won their last five Premier League London derbies and have won more away Premier League games in 2018 than any other side (11). Only once have Spurs won more top-flight away games in a single calendar year (17 in 1960).

Mauricio Pochettino has already revealed that he may rest Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen for the trip to Selhurst Park having only recently returned from injury.

The Palace match will be Tottenham’s fifth in thirteen days before the start of the international break.

Spurs will be without Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose but are boosted by the return of Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama.

Crystal Palace are still looking for their first home win of the season, and Merson has predicted that both sides will share the points.

He told Sky Sports: “Palace weren’t bad against Chelsea last week, their only problem was that they scored a goal! As soon as they scored Chelsea livened up and took them to town. There’s a saying which says little clubs shouldn’t wind the big clubs up, and that was the case at Stamford Bridge. Spurs are not firing on all cylinders at the moment, something you need to be doing ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park. This is going to be a tough game, I cannot separate the sides.

“Prediction 1-1.”
