While Cristian Romero’s future looks likely to lie away from Spurs, Porro is certain to stay at N17, much to the disappointment of the biggest club in world football.

According to the print edition of AS (as relayed by Sport Witness), some Real Madrid officials, including head coach Jose Mourinho, regret not pushing hard for Porro earlier in the summer.
The report explains that a few months ago, the La Liga giants had a window to submit an offer for the 26-year-old.
However, they hesitated, and Manchester City also entered the race at the time, but Roberto De Zerbi’s side managed to tie the right-back down to a new long-term contract.
AS state that this is a ‘bitter pill to swallow’ for Los Blancos, given how well Porro has done on the biggest stage this summer.
The outlet reveals that although the Spain international is happy at Tottenham, he would have loved to move to the Santiago Bernabeu if the opportunity presented itself.
New Porro contract has been Spurs’ best piece of summer business
Tottenham have shelled out £237m on six signings so far this summer, and they have also made some major sales.
However, tying down Porro to a new deal at the start of the window is arguably the best piece of business the club did.
Had they not done so, there is no doubt that several big clubs around Europe would have been circling over the Tottenham right-back on the back of his World Cup performances, and the former Sporting Lisbon man’s head may have been turned.
