Tottenham Hotspur are currently considering whether to table a £50million offer for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, according to the Daily Star.
Sancho scored 50 goals and registered 57 assists in 137 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions (transfermarkt) which caught the eye of United chiefs, but he has been unable to replicate his success upon returning to England.
United are said to want closer to £60million if they are to consider offloading Sancho with manager Erik ten Hag fully aware that they must generate funds from player sales with no takeover of the club looking imminent.
Spurs weigh up United offer for Sancho
The North Londoners are reported to believe that it is worth testing United’s hand on whether they are prepared to part with the 23-year-old who has failed to hit the heights expected since his £73million move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 (BBC).
Sancho had a difficult campaign from a personal perspective when he was considered to be mentally and physically unfit to join United in their mid-season break in Spain, held during the World Cup in Qatar in November, and later rejoined first-team training in January

Tottenham would be far better off spending £50million on James Maddison who has proven to be a consistent performer with Leicester City over recent years and his style of play would suit Spurs better. The England international has already been linked with Spurs said to have opened talks with Leicester over Maddison following their relegation to the Championship.
Sancho is more of a wide man, whereas Tottenham need someone in the middle who can pull the strings and is something that has been significantly missing since the departure of Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan.
It seems questionable whether United would be open to dealing with Spurs over a Sancho deal when Daniel Levy is playing hardball over the future of Harry Kane amid interest from the Old Trafford outfit.
