Richarlison’s hopes of leaving Tottenham Hotspur have taken another blow after a loan move to Brazilian side Vasco is unable to be completed.
Tottenham Hotspur have dropped their biggest hint yet regarding their stance in the Richarlison transfer saga after the Brazilian was left out of Roberto De Zerbi’s Premier League squad.
Spurs looked set to ship Richarlison out of the door during the summer transfer window after agreeing a deal with Everton for Iliman Ndiaye, a move that was also set to see Richarlison head the other way.
However, the forward opted against a move to Merseyside and remains at Tottenham, where he was not included in Roberto De Zerbi’s Premier League side. Trabzonspor also showed interest in Richarlison before the summer window slammed shut in Turkey, but a move did not materialise.
Richarlison loan blocked as FIFA rules complicate Vasco move
Spurs Web has since revealed that Richarlison has given the green light to a move to Vasco in Brazil. The transfer window in South America does not shut until 11 September.
A report from Brazilian news outlet ge.globo has now revealed that Tottenham have communicated to Richarlison that a loan move to Vasco would not be possible if he is to leave N17.
This is because Tottenham have already reached the permitted limit of six players loaned to clubs in other countries.
Tottenham currently have six players on loan outside of England, including Pape Matar Sarr (Juventus), Guglielmo Vicario (Juventus), Kevin Danso (Sunderland), Radu Dragusin (Fiorentina), Souza (Porto), Takai (Sint‑Truiden) and Yang Min‑hyeok (KVC Westerlo).
FIFA rules do not allow for more than six players to be loaned outside of a federation, making it impossible for the Lilywhites to sanction a loan move for Richarlison.
Permanent transfer now the only option for Richarlison
With Richarlison unable to head out of Tottenham on a temporary basis, his only option is to leave the club permanently.
Richarlison’s contract is in its final year, and a permanent transfer would favour Tottenham, who will be hoping to cash in on him before his deal runs out.
Tottenham have put their faith in Omar Marmoush and Dominic Solanke to lead the line, with Richarlison now fast runnning out of options for regular first-team football.
