Sandro Tonali’s eye-watering Tottenham wage has been revealed, if he makes £100m transfer

New details have emerged regarding the salary package Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to offer Sandro Tonali as they continue their pursuit of the Newcastle United midfielder.

With Tottenham having already completed their defensive business this summer, attention has now shifted firmly towards strengthening the midfield.

Spurs have been pushing hard to sign Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali, even if it means breaking the club’s transfer record by a significant margin. Tottenham saw a £75m offer rejected earlier this week, with Newcastle believed to be holding out for a fee closer to £100m for the Italy international they signed from AC Milan in 2023.

The gap between the two clubs is not thought to be much, however, and Spurs are expected to return with an improved offer for a player Roberto De Zerbi reportedly views as a ‘priority target’.

Sandro Tonali would become Tottenham’s highest-paid player

We previously reported that positive and constructive discussions had already taken place between Tottenham and Tonali’s representatives, with the midfielder keen on the prospect of working under De Zerbi.

While personal terms are yet to be finalised, Newcastle Chronicle chief correspondent Lee Ryder has now revealed what Tonali could earn if he completes the move to North London.

According to Ryder, the Italian, who currently earns around £150,000 per week at Newcastle, would see that salary rise to approximately £275,000 per week at Tottenham.

If accurate, that figure would comfortably make Tonali the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

This is after David Ornstein had already hinted that the wages being discussed would take Tottenham into territory they have rarely explored, and a £275,000-per-week package would certainly fit that description.

Even club legends such as Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Heung-min Son never earned that much during their time in N17.

At present, Cristian Romero and Xavi Simons are Tottenham’s joint highest earners on around £195,000 per week.

How much Tottenham’s second bid for Sandro Tonali could be

Fabrizio Romano recently explained that Tottenham were never expecting their opening bid to be accepted and suggested the proposal was as much about sending a message as it was about securing an immediate agreement.

The transfer expert stated that first offers are routinely rejected and that Spurs wanted both Newcastle and Tonali to understand how serious they are about completing the deal.

Several reports have since suggested Tottenham could increase their offer to around £85m plus add-ons as they attempt to reach an agreement with Newcastle.

While competition remains fierce, with both Manchester City and Arsenal monitoring the situation, Tottenham are currently regarded as the most advanced suitor.

City’s main midfield focus remains Elliot Anderson, while Arsenal have yet to make the same level of progress as Spurs in their pursuit of the Newcastle star.
