With Sandro Tonali having now joined Tottenham Hotspur, we have taken a look at his injury record, and history suggests he might be just what Spurs need.
Tottenham Hotspur have finally secured the services of one of their top midfield targets in Sandro Tonali after reaching a £100 million (€118m) agreement with Newcastle United.
A deal for Tonali did not come easy, with Spurs having to beat both Manchester City and Arsenal to the Italian’s signature.
Tonali now arrives as Tottenham’s record signing and highest earner ahead of the 26/27 season. His addition has taken Spurs’ transfer spend to a staggering £237 million (€278m), their second highest in a single transfer window.

Tottenham handed boost by Sandro Tonali’s injury record
Spurs Web has revealed that Tonali could join Spurs for pre-season preparation on 10 July following his move.
Roberto De Zerbi will be keen to begin work with him, especially after it was revealed that he pushed strongly for the signing of the Italian.
De Zerbi will certainly be hoping to have Tonali available for most of next season, and the 26-year-old’s injury record should fill him with confidence.
A look at Tonali’s injury history shows he has missed just 13 games in his career, with the longest absence for a club being a single match.

That is a significant boost for Spurs, who have had to deal with crippling injury crises in the last two seasons. Just last campaign, Tottenham were at one point without 11 first-team players.
At present, they still have key regulars sidelined, including Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert, and Xavi Simons.
Spurs also boosted by Mateus Fernandes record
Not only is Tonali not injury-prone, but the same can be said of Mateus Fernandes, whom Tottenham landed a week earlier before the Italian joined.
The former West Ham midfielder also boasts a strong injury record, as Fernandes has never suffered any injury since he first broke through at Sporting Lisbon in 2023/24.
The 21-year-old has never been unavailable for a match due to fitness issues across the last two years at Southampton and West Ham.
