In a possible blow to Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City have just substantiated their interest in Sandro Tonali.
Spurs fans are still on a high after seeing their side shatter their transfer record to sign Mateus Fernandes, with the Lilywhites beating out Manchester United to land the 21-year-old.
According to reports, the club are set to continue their spending spree, with Tottenham stepping up their pursuit of Tonali, who would be expected to partner Fernandes in a new-look midfield next season.
It emerged yesterday that Man City were preparing a big offer of their own for the Newcastle star, and that offer has now been sent.

Man City make mammoth offer for Tottenham target Sandro Tonali
Gazzetta dello Sport have now claimed that City are expected to push ahead with moves for their top transfer targets after officially confirming the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new head coach.
The report says that Maresca wants to partner new City signing Elliot Anderson with Tonali at the Etihad Stadium next season.
The outlet claims that the Manchester club have now offered €100m (£86m) to Newcastle for the Italy internaitonal, but it is not revealed whether the offer is expected to be enough to clinch the deal.
Spurs getting closer to winning Tonali race
Spurs fans should not be panicking as other sources continue to indicate that they are on track to win the race for the Newcastle man.
This includes talkSPORT, who claimed that Tottenham are confident that Tonali will be the club’s sixth signing of the summer, with De Zerbi being a key factor in attracting the player to N17.
Meanwhile, Nicolo Schira has said that Tonali is ‘getting closer’ to joining Spurs after already agreeing personal terms with the Lilywhites.
