The race for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall continues to intensify as a Premier League club prepares a massive offer for the Swede.
Nottingham Forest failed with a £38m offer for Bergvall and are expected to return with a second bid for the player.
It emerged last weekend that Newcastle United’s £46m offer for the 20-year-old was also turned down by Tottenham, who are holding out for a much bigger fee.
Bergvall is part of the Spurs squad which has travelled to Australia and New Zealand for their pre-season tour, but some big developments are expected back in England over the player’s future.
Brighton willing to meet Tottenham’s valuation of Lucas Bergvall
TEAMtalk have now claimed that Brighton & Hove Albion are preparing to make a major push to sign Bergvall, having already raided Spurs for Luka Vuskovic this summer.
The report claims that Brighton’s recruitment department have identified the attacking midfielder as one of their ‘priority targets’, as they believe he could be a ‘standout success’ at the Amex Stadium.
As a result, the Seagulls are now ready to ‘blow away’ Bergvall’s other suitors by launching a huge offer for the player.
The outlet asserts that the South Coast club are willing to meet Tottenham’s valuation of the Swede, which is now approaching £60m, which would represent a club record transfer for Brighton.
Several other Premier League clubs still eyeing Bergvall
TEAMtalk say that Tottenham’s huge asking price for the midfielder has effectively priced out many of Bergvall’s European admirers.
However, there is no shortage of interest in the 20-year-old in England, with Forest continuing to remain keen on his services after holding extensive discussions over his future.
The report adds that Newcastle and Aston Villa have also spoken to Bergvall’s representatives, while Fulham are also keeping an eye on the Spurs man’s situation.
