Tottenham fans will love hearing what one Spurs youngster’s international teammates have been saying about him ahead of the World Cup.
The eyes of the footballing world will be glued to the biggest tournament in football for the next month and a half as the 48-team format World Cup gets underway in North America.
Nine Tottenham players were originally named in the World Cup squad for their respective nations, and that number increased to 10 with the arrival of Andy Robertson, and it became eleven when Senesi received a late call-up to the Argentina squad.
The club could soon have an 12th representative in North America, with Spurs reportedly accelerating their efforts to land Jan Paul van Hecke, who is part of the Netherlands’ 26-man squad.

Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall has impressed his Sweden teammates
Some may not have expected Lucas Bergvall to start for Sweden, given that the midfielder came on as a substitute in their final friendly against Greece ahead of the big tournament.
However, reporting from Sweden’s training camp at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, journalist Daniel Esteve has revealed that the Spurs man has been the standout player in training.
Esteve asked three of Sweden’s players to name the player who has impressed them the most in training, and all of them named Bergvall, backing him to have a big tournament.
- “I’ve played with all of them before so I know the level, but Lucas is a great young talent.”
- “Bergvall is one that can be really really important for us. I think he has some very good qualities that are hard to find.”
- “He has crazy potential. Really good player, so he will sure make an impact in this World Cup.”
Bergvall is not concerned about being overlooked by Roberto De Zerbi
The likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in Bergvall, and there may be a concern at Spurs that a good tournament for the midfielder may intensify interest in his services.
The 21-year-old did not start a single game after De Zerbi arrived and was an unused substitute in Tottenham’s final two league games.
However, Bergvall remarked that he is not too bothered by being left on the bench by De Zerbi, insisting that all that mattered was for the club to stay in the Premier League.
