Ben Davies has put pen to paper on a new Tottenham deal after months of uncertainty surrounding his future.

Roberto De Zerbi spoke glowingly about Ben Davies’ influence during Tottenham’s successful fight for Premier League survival, particularly after the Welshman continued travelling with the squad despite being unavailable for selection through injury.

In truth, that praise was nothing new. Every Spurs manager Davies has worked under since arriving from Swansea City in 2014 has spoken highly of his professionalism, leadership and willingness to put the team first.

Whether playing at left-back or centre-back, the Wales captain has consistently delivered for Spurs without complaint, and has become one of the most respected figures at the club over the last decade, earning the reputation of being Tottenham’s very own “Mr Reliable”.

Tottenham confirm Ben Davies contract extension

With just a month remaining on his contract, Ben Davies‘ future in north London had become a talking point among supporters, particularly given his recent injury problems and advancing years.

However, SpursWeb exclusively revealed over the weekend that the defender was set to extend his stay by another 12 months, and that has now officially been confirmed by Tottenham.

The club announced the news on their website, saying:

“We are delighted to announce that Ben Davies has signed a new contract with the Club. An incredible servant to our football club, Ben, who has made 363 appearances for us and was a Europa League winner in 2025, will now enter his 13th season as a Spurs player.”

It makes Davies the first Tottenham player to sign a new contract this summer and ensures one of the club’s most experienced voices remains part of De Zerbi‘s squad for another campaign.

This comes amid rumours that Tottenham may be lining Davies up for a coaching or executive role in the near future.

Ben Davies explains why Tottenham still feels like home

Speaking to the club’s official channels after signing his new deal, Davies made it clear just how much Tottenham still means to him.

“Tottenham Hotspur really feels like home. It’s been a huge part of my football journey and I’m grateful for what the Club has given me so far in my career.

“It’s been difficult over the past few months, not being able to help the team on the pitch in some tough moments due to injury. So I tried to help the boys off it as much as I could, being a voice in the dressing room and around the group, contributing in any way I could.

“My heart’s on my sleeve for this Club and I’ll give everything for it.”

While Davies may not do much on the pitch next season, players with his attitude, professionalism and leadership are incredibly difficult to replace. And for a squad that is expected to undergo major changes this summer, keeping someone who understands the standards required at Tottenham could prove just as important as any new signing that arrives through the door.
