Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a huge statement of their intent as they prepare an offer for Liverpool star Cody Gakpo.

Spurs are optimistic about adding Savinho to their attack as they continue talks with Manchester City over a deal.

However, the City star is not the only Premier League wide player that the Lilywhites have their eye on. A few days ago, it emerged that Tottenham are working behind the scenes on a surprise deal for Gakpo.

The update asserted that Roberto De Zerbi’s men are working to convince the 27-year-old to swap Anfield for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Tottenham preparing mammoth Cody Gakpo offer

The Sun have now backed up Spurs’ interest in the Liverpool winger, stating that the Lilywhites’ pursuit of the Dutchman is very much ‘active’.

In fact, they claim that the North Londoners are preparing a huge £73.5m offer for Gakpo, who struggled to hit the expected heights at Anfield last season.

The report adds that the former PSV Eindhoven player is ‘unsettled’ at Liverpool and that De Zerbi’s men see him as ‘ideal’ for their potential rebuild.

If such an offer from Tottenham is accepted by Liverpool, that would make Gakpo the Lilywhites’ record signing, beating out the £65m they paid to Bournemouth for Dominic Solanke two years ago.

What Gakpo is thinking about his future

It was reported by TEAMtalk a couple of days ago that the Tottenham target is far from convinced about remaining at Liverpool.

The report claimed that Gakpo has major concerns about whether he will have a prominent role under Andoni Iraola and is unhappy about the prospect of finding himself behind teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha in the pecking order next season.

As a result, the outlet claimed that the winger’s representatives are carrying out due diligence on opportunities away from Merseyside for the player this summer.
