Tottenham Hotspur have expressed their interest in a Ligue 1 shot-stopper, but Besiktas have already taken steps towards his signing.

Guglielmo Vicario is expected to depart Tottenham this summer, but it remains unclear at the moment what his next destination will be.

Several Premier League goalkeepers have been mooted as targets from Spurs, but the Lilywhites are also allegedly looking at options across Europe.

It first emerged back in March that Tottenham made contact with a France international goalkeeper, who is expected to be on the move this summer, and there has now been an update on his future.

Tottenham battling Besiktas for PSG’s Lucas Chevalier

The goalkeeper in question is Lucas Chevalier, who Spurs reportedly view as an ‘ideal’ replacement for Vicario.

A new report in L’Equipe has now backed up Tottenham’s interest in the PSG man, but reveals that Roberto De Zerbi’s men face competition from Besiktas for the 24-year-old.

The Turkish club have already made enquiries regarding Chevalier and have sounded him out regarding a potential move to Istanbul.

The report adds that the Frenchman, who played just 17 times for PSG last season following his £35m move from Lille last summer, faces an uncertain future in Paris.

Premier League club could also challenge Spurs for Chevalier

This report comes just a couple of days after FussballDaten handed Tottenham a boost by revealing that Chevalier wants to test himself in the Premier League.

However, the North Londoners are not the only English club after him, with the update revealing that Aston Villa are prepared to challenge Spurs for the PSG man.

It has since emerged that Emiliano Martinez is edging close to a switch to Juventus, which means that we could see the Villans push ahead with an approach for Chevalier soon.
