Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left baffled by reports that the club has already agreed personal terms with Jan Paul van Hecke.

Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on adding even more depth to their defence despite completing the signing of Andy Robertson.

Marcos Senesi now looks set to join after signing a four-year contract with the Lilywhites following the expiration of his Bournemouth contract.

Still, Jan Paul van Hecke remains on Tottenham’s radar. It is understood that, despite Spurs’ last two bids being rejected, Tottenham remain in talks. Spurs have already put at least £43.2m (€50m) on the table as they aim to convince Brighton to sell up.

Van Hecke is also said to have agreed personal terms with Tottenham despite both Spurs and the Seagulls continuing negotiations.

Spurs fans have now given their reaction to the latest report, with many hyping up the club’s pull despite their dismal finish last campaign.

One fan said: “How the f**k do we still have this sort of pull 😂” Another added: “When you finish 17th twice on the trot, yet still maintain that pull. No wonder everyone wanted us relegated.”

A third supporter wrote: “De Zerbi pull will one day be studied,” while another stated: “RDZ changed our lives.”

One more fan commented: “Van Hecke and Senesi, all courted by Europe’s elite, yet they want us while being in their prime after we finished 17th twice in a row. When you are gargantuan, you are gargantuan 🫡”

Another supporter opined: “Great to hear! We must be offering him a veryyy nice package to have him that convinced. Either that or he wants to play with his Dutch teammates.”

Tottenham reunion with Roberto De Zerbi looks likely for van Hecke

Van Hecke’s interest in joining Tottenham should not come as a surprise to many, given his message after Roberto De Zerbi left Brighton.

The pair worked together for two seasons, but it is clear that the Italian had a huge impact on the Dutchman.

Van Hecke wrote after De Zerbi left Brighton: “Gaffer, thank you very much! You changed my life! I’m really thankful for what you did for me. I’m really upset you are leaving.”

It is clear that the centre-back remains keen on reuniting with his former boss.
