Everton’s latest offer for Richarlison has left the Tottenham Hotspur fanbase divided as supporters weigh up the club’s next steps.
Reports from Spurs Web claim that eleven players could still depart from Hotspur Way despite Tottenham having already sold ten players this summer transfer window.
On our list is centre-forward Richarlison, who has not been short of interest this summer, with Spurs understood to be open to selling the Brazil international.
However, any sale will not come cheap. Reports state that Tottenham value Richarlison at £40m, while the centre-forward himself is open to a move within England.
Tottenham fans react as Spurs reject Everton’s offer for Richarlison
Everton are said to have sent in a bid for Richarlison earlier today as they look to bring the Brazil international back to Merseyside.
But the Toffees bid was quickly sent back as it fell short of Tottenham’s valuation. The amount offered was not revealed, but with Spurs valuing Richarlison at £40m, Everton’s offer likely fell below that fee.
Tottenham fans have now caught wind of the latest reports and have taken to social media to give their reactions.
The fanbase seems split, with some sections open to the Brazil international departing, while other sections are sceptical of a sale.
One fan said: “Would sell for the right price but I’d rather sell Solanke. Goes without saying I’d happily sell both if the opportunity presented itself (hypothetically).”
Another then added: “Bro we can’t sell him hes like our only fit player alongside tel” A third fan wondered if Spurs will sell Richarlison, who is the club’s only fit striker: “We won’t sell our only fit striker before signing one would we?”
Another supporter then added: “People excited we might lose our best attacker just days before the season (Harry Kane all over again).”
A fifth fan kept it blunt: “I’d rather keep him and sell Solanke” While a final called for Richarlison to be sold this summer given the amount of years left on his deal: “Please just let the pigeon flee! Surely it’s got to be 15mil or more, has 1 year left on his contract and than fly for free anyway.. let him go NOW!”
Spurs face major risk as Richarlison sale hinges on replacement
Selling Richarlison now with no replacement through the door is definitely a big risk for Tottenham to take at the moment.
The Brazilian is currently the only fit striker at the club and has been heavily involved in pre-season compared to Spurs’ other option, Dominic Solanke.
Richarlison is also amongst the top six in terms of minutes played this summer for Tottenham, having got 334 minutes of game time under his belt, while Solanke managed just 90.
At present, the Brazil international looks set to start in the weekend game against Brentford and could be De Zerbi’s go-to man up front, with Solanke struggling for fitness.
However, that does not mean a sale is off the table – but Tottenham would need to secure a replacement first, with reports claiming that the Lilywhites are in the market for two wingers and a centre-forward.
