Tottenham Hotspur are demanding a much higher fee for Richarlison this summer than what many sources have suggested over recent weeks.
Richarlison continues to be linked with a move away from Spurs despite ending last season as the club’s top goalscorer.
It was reported last month that Spurs would be willing to sell the Brazil international for around £17m–£21m (€20m–€25m), as he continues to attract interest from around Europe.
Reports have said that the former Everton man’s preferred desire is to remain in England, but it has now emerged that Premier League clubs would have to pay a sizable fee to land him.
Tottenham want close to £40m for Richarlison
The centre-forward only has a year left on his contract, and there has been no indication that he is likely to sign a new deal.
However, despite his contract situation, Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has revealed that the North London club want more than double the fee of what some sources are reporting at the Lilywhites’ valuation.
He asserted that it would take an offer close to £40m for Spurs to cash in on the 29-year-old striker.
In response to claims that Richarlison is valued at at least £15m, O’Keefe wrote on X: “More than double”, and later clarified on another post: “They’ve aggregated a reply where someone posted 15m. Tottenham want nearer 40.”
O’Keefe also told Spurs Web: ‘Tottenham want as close to 40m as possible.’
Roberto De Zerbi’s comments shed light on Spurs’ Richarlison plans
Some sources have said over recent days that Spurs will only sell the former Everton man once they secure a replacement.
This appeared to have been confirmed by Roberto De Zerbi, who said over the weekend that replacing Richarlison will not be easy, given that he is a guaranteed goalscorer at Premier League level.
The Tottenham boss also appeared to suggest that the striker himself had not made up his mind on whether to stay or leave.
