Amid major concerns that Dejan Kulusevski’s injury could be career-threatening, the Tottenham star has posted a promising update on social media.
Kulusevski has now been sidelined for more than 12 months with no return date in sight after being left out of Sweden’s World Cup squad.
Last week, Sweden’s team doctor explained the Tottenham man’s cartilage injury is in a tricky spot and it is not recovering quickly enough due to the stress that it is under.
When asked if he expects Kulusevski to play football again, he said: “I hope so”, which will certainly not fill Spurs fans with confidence.

Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski is training with the ball
Last week, Kulusevski shared a video of himself jogging outdoors, which delighted Tottenham fans and added to their hope that he is on the mend.
The 26-year-old’s latest social media post will please Spurs fans even more after the former Juventus man vowed to work hard to return as soon as possible.
Kulusevski has now shared a video on his Instagram stories showing him practising with the ball and taking shots at goal. The fact that he has progressed from outdoor running to ball work is a promising sign ahead of pre-season.
Why Roberto De Zerbi cannot plan for Kulusevski’s return next season
Roberto De Zerbi has confessed that he is a big fan of Kulusevski, describing the attacker as a ‘perfect player’ for his system.
However, given the complicated nature of his injury, it is difficult for anyone to be confident about his return date.
Additionally, given how long the Swede has been out for, there is no guarantee that he will be the same player he was prior to his injury.
As a result, De Zerbi will want to add more attacking reinforcements to his squad and will have to work with the assumption that he cannot rely on Kulusevski for the first half of next season.
