Fabrizio Romano has now shared fresh updates on how discussions between Manchester City and Tottenham are going amid Spurs’ interest in signing Savinho this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur‘s pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho has continued to progress at a good pace, with the Lilywhites pursuing a deal with the World Cup firmly in sight.

Savinho is not heading to the World Cup finals after being left out of the Brazilian squad following a largely underwhelming 2025-26 season with City, where he managed just one Premier League goal.

However, as Spurs Web recently reported, the Brazilian is highly rated by Tottenham, who believe he would be a good addition to their squad due to his ability to feature on either flank.

Tottenham and Manchester City talks for Savinho progressing

Yesterday, Spurs Web reported further progress in Spurs’ pursuit of Savinho. We revealed that Tottenham had opened talks with Manchester City, days after it was first reported that Spurs had reignited their interest in signing Savinho following their failed attempt to land him last summer.

Fabrizio Romano has now provided a further update on a potential deal, revealing that negotiations with the Citizens have begun and are progressing well.

Spurs are said to believe that Savinho wants the move, while Manchester City could open the door to the winger’s exit if a suitable proposal arrives.

Romano wrote on X: “Negotiations ongoing for Savinho to Tottenham as revealed two weeks ago… and progressing well. #THFC believe Savinho wants the move, talks continue as Man City could open doors to his exit in case of good proposal. Deal on.”

Savinho’s stance on a City exit as Spurs continues pursuit

Spurs Web has since revealed Savinho’s stance on a potential move away from the Etihad Stadium, stating that the 22-year-old is open to the switch.

We also shared Manchester City’s stance on a sale, revealing that the club are open to letting the Brazilian leave, although that could hinge on the preference of their next manager.

Pep Guardiola was the man who convinced Savinho to remain at the Etihad Stadium last year despite Tottenham tabling a £70m offer. However, with Guardiola having now departed, a move appears increasingly likely.

It is also believed that Spurs could land Savinho at a discount this summer, with Spurs Web revealing that City would be open to a sale at £60m or less.
