Micky van de Ven’s new Tottenham contract has garnered a reaction from many of his current as well as former teammates.
Van de Ven has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with Tottenham, thus committing himself to Roberto De Zerbi’s project at the club.
The new contract will see the Dutchman become one of the highest-paid players at the club, with De Zerbi thought to have played a key role in convincing the player to extend his deal.
The news has been met with delight by Spurs fans on social media, and many of the 25-year-old’s former and current teammates are also over the moon for the defender.

Van de Ven took to Instagram to express his delight at his new contract, writing: “We’re not done yet”, along with a white heart emoji.
That post has garnered a reaction from the likes of James Maddison, Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie, who all reacted with heart emojis to the Netherlands international’s post.
Meanwhile, Dominic Solanke commented: “My son” on the post, while former Spurs winger Brennan Johnson wrote: “Come onnnnnnnn.”
Johnson’s reaction will especially please Spurs fans, with the man who scored the Europa League-winning goal seemingly continuing to have a soft spot for the North London club despite departing N17 in January.
Van de Ven admits he loves Spurs and the club’s fans
On signing the new contract, Van de Ven confessed that he has loved Tottenham and its fans from the day he stepped foot in the club three years ago.
The centre-back is happy to see the direction Spurs want to go in and revealed that he is excited about what lies ahead for the club.
De Zerbi has continuously reiterated that Van de Ven is one of the most important players in the squad, and the Italian will thus be extremely pleased that the defender’s long-term future has been secured.
