New Tottenham signing Tosin Adarabioyo may be winning over the Spurs fans before even kicking a ball for his new club.

According to reports, Spurs agreed a deal worth £10m, plus £2m in add-ons with Chelsea for Adarabioyo, who made the switch across London on transfer deadline day.

The centre-back replaces Kevin Danso, who completed a move to Sunderland, and is also capable of filling in at right-back, where Tottenham do not have any natural cover for Pedro Porro.

The 28-year-old has a lot to prove, but it turns out that he already has a lot of affection for Spurs.

Tosin Adarabioyo’s old tweets show he supported Tottenham

The 28-year-old arrives with vast Premier League experience, but his struggles at Chelsea over the last two seasons have meant that many Spurs fans are very sceptical of the signing.

However, the Tottenham faithful will be pleased to know that Adarabioyo supported the club when he was young.

Spurs fans on social media have managed to dig up a tweet that the defender posted 14 years ago (when he would have been 14 years of age), where he refers to Tottenham as “my team.”

Adarabioyo wrote on X at the time: “@FizzAdarabioyo I don’t think you would, but I definitely would with my team.”

Why Adarabioyo may not be a downgrade on Kevin Danso for Spurs

On signing for the North London club, Adarabioyo has remarked that De Zerbi’s style of play is ‘a very good fit’ for his profile.

Although many Spurs fans understandably feel that he is not as good a defender as Danso, one of the Austrian’s big weaknesses was his ability in possession.

Adarabioyo is undoubtedly better than Danso in possession, and with De Zerbi’s system relying heavily on the centre-backs in build-up, the 28-year-old may not be a bad fit.
