The Telegraph’s Matt Law has provided an update on Tottenham Hotspur’s efforts to appoint a new sporting director this summer.
The transfer window is a week away from officially opening, but Tottenham Hotspur have already done plenty of work to improve their squad.
Marcos Senesi is expected to follow Andy Robertson to Tottenham as a free agent, while it has emerged over recent days that Spurs are accelerating efforts to land Savinho and Jan Paul Van Hecke.
The surprise to many is that a new sporting director has not arrived through the door even though the Lilywhites are well into their rebuild.

Tottenham have approached two experienced sporting directors
Matt Law has now revealed in his latest appearance on the Last Word on Spurs podcast that Tottenham have done work behind the scenes on hiring a new sporting director.
He confirms that the North Londoners did approach Chelsea Sporting Director, Paul Winstanley, over taking over at Hotspur Way.
The journalist claims that the Lilywhites also had “very serious” chats with Dougie Freedman, who is currently at Al-Diraiyah FC, and previously spent eight years as Crystal Palace’s sporting director.
Speaking on the current situation at Tottenham, Law added: “I am surprised no one has come in yet.”
Johan Lange could stay at Spurs
Over the last couple of months, it had been widely reported that Johan Lange’s position at Tottenham is under threat this summer after the club’s back-to-back 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League.
However, the Dane has remained at the club so far, and Law has now indicated that the club may not sack him this summer.
However, when asked if Tottenham could change Lange’s title and his role, the journalist responded: “We will have to wait and see.”
