A new report has shed light on Luka Vuskovic’s rehabilitation and exactly what Tottenham Hotspur have instructed the centre-back to do.

The 19-year-old has been one of the best defender’s on show in the Bundesliga this term, and his importance to HSV is underlined by the fact that they have lost all of their last three matches without him featuring.

There have been mixed reports on the seriousness of Vuskovic’s injury, and according to various outlets, the Tottenham medical team are in contact with Hamburg about the defender’s rehabilitation.

In fact, it has been revealed that Spurs have inserted a clause in Vuskovic’s loan contract which gives them the power to decide when he will play.

Tottenham have denied Luka Vuskovic permission to return to training

Hamburger Abendblatt has now revealed that the Tottenham Hotspur star is yet to return to training, having missed it for the last three weeks.

The report points out that there have been talks of a knee contusion for Vuskovic and suggestions that there may be some internal bleeding.

The website claims to have found out from a source close to the 19-year-old that he needs permission from Tottenham to return to training, and the Premier League side has not given that yet.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side wants to avoid a serious setback as that could jeopardise his playing for at N17 at the start of next season or the possibility of a big summer sale.

Hamburg boss remains positive about Vuskovic’s injury

The teenager looks unlikely to be fit to face Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend, after which HSV has just two more matches.

Bergedorfer Zeitung (via Sport Witness) say that the defender has been working closely with rehabilitation coach Sebastian Capel, and the publication also spoke to Hamburg boss Merlin Polzin, who suggested that Vuskovic’s pain had subsided.

Polzin said: “First of all, this is really good: sunshine, Luka is here. Wonderful. It gives me a good feeling that the pain has subsided.”
