Tottenham Hotspur have identified three alternative strikers after Eli Junior Kroupi suffered an injury blow earlier this week.
Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear that Tottenham will prioritise signing their top targets, rather than settling for backup options, but the Italian may have no choice but to settle for a compromise in the number nine role.
Spurs were 24 hours away from making a big offer for Kroupi before being hit with the news that the forward has suffered a foot injury and is expected to be out of action for three or four months.
The news has almost certainly ruled out the possibility of a transfer for the Frenchman this summer, with the Lilywhites being forced to turn to other alternatives.

Tottenham identify three striker alternatives to Eli Junior Kroupi
TEAMtalk have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have identified alternative number nine options following the Bournemouth star’s injury.
The report claims that Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani and Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi are both high on the North London club’s wishlist.
Tottenham’s recruitment department have already done ‘substantial work’ on both players and have been impressed with what they have seen.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men are tracking developments regarding Asllani and Tresoldi very closely, while they are also considering an ambitious move for Barcelona striker Ferran Torres.
Spurs have held discussions with intermediaries regarding Torres’ situation and will continue to follow the Spaniard’s future over the coming days and weeks.
Spurs will face heavy competition for all three striker targets
TEAMtalk make it clear that the Premier League side will not have a free run at any of the three strikers named above.
RB Leipzig are ‘pushing strongly’ to sign Asllani, while Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the striker as they look for alternatives should they fail in their pursuit of Julian Alvarez.
The Catalan club are also fans of Tresoldi, who is also attracting interest from the likes of AS Roma and Borussia Dortmund. Finally, Paris Saint-Germain are said to be making progress in their efforts to agree a deal with Barca for Torres.
