Tottenham Hotspur have been forced to temporarily abandon their pursuit of Eli Junior Kroupi after some big news came out of Bournemouth on Wednesday.
Roberto De Zerbi had made no secret of the fact that Spurs will pursue their top attacking targets, instead of settling for a Plan B or C.
However, those plans have to be shelved as Kroupi, who was Tottenham’s top striker target, according to various insiders, has now suffered a major setback.
The latest development regarding the 19-year-old means that the Lilywhites now have a big decision on their hands over the coming days and weeks.

TEAMtalk say that Tottenham had received encouragement from the Frenchman’s representatives to make an offer and they were just 24 hours away from launching a blockbuster bid of over £80m.
In fact, it is revealed that Spurs were even prepared to go even higher to land Kroupi, but their pursuit of the youngster has now been brought to an abrupt halt due to a devastating injury setback.
The Cherries star, who scored 13 times in his first season in the Premier League, has now suffered a broken foot during pre-season, which requires surgery.
Kroupi is now expected to be sidelined for three to four months, which means that a summer transfer has been ruled out for the former Lorient man.
Spurs’ interest in Kroupi has not gone away
TEAMtalk say that Tottenham view Kroupi as a player who can become a ‘major part’ of their long-term project, with De Zerbi a big admirer of the teenager.
Despite this latest setback, the Lilywhites have not abandoned their pursuit of the Bournemouth man. They have made it clear that they remain keen on Kroupi and could revisit a deal in the January window.
However, for now, Tottenham have been forced to look elsewhere as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements ahead of the 2026-27 season.
