Tottenham Hotspur have issued a clear message to Manchester City regarding Savinho after being frustrated by the Manchester club’s antics.
It is fair to say that most Spurs fans are already extremely bored with the Savinho transfer saga, which has been incessant from the start of the transfer window, even though there has seemingly been no progress in the deal.
Reports indicate that Roberto De Zerbi views the Brazilian as the ‘ideal fit’ for his system, due to his pace and creativity.
While talks between Tottenham and Man City regarding Savinho remain ongoing, the Lilywhites have no intention for these negotiations to drag on for much longer.
Tottenham tell Man City they want Savinho answer within few days
TEAMtalk say that Savinho has been Spurs’ priority target for the left side since the start of the year, but the club have now given City an ultimatum.
Tottenham have informed the Etihad hierarchy that they want a final answer on the winger’s future before the weekend, or they will walk away from the deal.
Spurs do not want the negotiations over Savinho to drag into August and have thus given a clear deadline to Enzo Maresca’s side. If City do not provide an answer before the weekend, De Zerbi’s men are prepared to move on to alternative winger targets.
The North London club have not only made their stance clear to City but also to Savinho’s representatives, who are aware that August 1 is the deadline for the transfer to be completed.
Spurs have been frustrated by Man City’s antics
TEAMtalk reveal that Tottenham made significant progress on a deal worth £60m for Savinho earlier this summer, and were confident that an agreement was close.
However, the negotiations subsequently stalled after City made it clear that they want to secure a replacement before sanctioning the 22-year-old’s departure.
Subsequently, there have been internal discussions at the Manchester club over whether Savinho should command a higher fee than Tottenham’s proposed package, with the delay leaving the Lilywhites frustrated.
The Brazilian has already agreed personal terms with De Zerbi’s side and is doing ‘everything possible to keep the move alive’, including reiterating to his employers that he only wants to join Tottenham this summer.
Spurs continue to remain optimistic that a deal can be reached, but club sources have said that their deadline is genuine rather than a negotiating tactic.
