With Tottenham set to begin their tour of New Zealand and Australia with a game against Auckland, it’s time for our predicted Spurs XI.
Up next for Tottenham Hotspur is a game against Auckland FC in their pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The match is set to come up on Sunday morning, 4am UK time, on 26 July, four days after Spurs’ 1-0 win over MK Dons.
Mateus Fernandes was the star of the show last time out, with his wonder strike proving decisive for Spurs against the League One side.
Roberto De Zerbi has since named the 35‑man squad he has flown to Oceania, and with a game against Auckland a few days away, we have predicted how Spurs could line up.
Tottenham predicted XI vs Auckland
Goalkeeper – Antonin Kinsky: The Czech international was between the sticks last time out and is set for a more prominent role this season. Vicario was left out due to a minor injury, so we expect Kinsky to start, but Martin Dubravka could well play the second half.
Right-back – Archie Gray: Neither Djed Spence nor Pedro Porro is available given their prolonged involvement at the World Cup, so Gray should feature at full-back.
Centre-back – Jan Paul van Hecke: The Dutchman only just made a return to Tottenham this week and was included in the 35‑man squad for the tour. He should get his first start as a Spurs player.
Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: Following his World Cup run, Tottenham fans could well catch a glimpse of their all‑Dutch centre-back pairing on Sunday morning.
Left-back – Andy Robertson: Confirmed as the club’s new number three, Robertson, who missed the game against MK Dons, could also get his first minutes in a Tottenham shirt here. Destiny Udogie was included in the pre-season squad and could feature from the bench should the Scotland international start.
Defensive midfield – Mateus Fernandes: After his wonder strike against MK Dons, the new signing admitted to his lack of fitness, and we expect him to continue to get minutes to build his fitness up.
Central midfield – Sandro Tonali: Tottenham fans also caught a glimpse of their most expensive acquisition thus far this summer, with Tonali featuring against MK Dons last time out. He looked like he was not yet in rhythm, and this game could help him develop that further.
Central midfield – Conor Gallagher: The Englishman managed a few sighters at goal against MK Dons and looks like he could be part of De Zerbi’s plans for next season. He should start here. James Maddison could come in for him, as he also made the pre-season squad despite missing Tottenham’s last friendly game.
Right wing – Mikey Moore: A bright cameo off the bench in the last friendly for Moore. With Spurs still without Kudus, Kulusevski and Simons, he is primed to feature on the wings.
Striker – Dominic Solanke: It is vital the centre-forward gets up to speed ahead of the 2026/27 season, and he should feature heavily in pre-season, starting against Auckland.
Left wing – Mathys Tel: Coming off the left is Tel, who will be keen to make an impression as there remains an opportunity to stake a claim for a role in attack for Tottenham.
