Tottenham Hotspur have made a sensational move for one of the most prolific strikers across Europe after their pursuit of Eli Junior Kroupi collapsed.
Spurs were 24 hours away from making a big offer for Kroupi before being hit with the news that the forward has suffered a foot injury and is expected to be out of action for three or four months.
That has necessitated a big change to the North London club’s summer plans, with De Zerbi’s men exploring moves for other alternatives.
Over the last few days, reports have indicated that Spurs are keeping an eye on Fisnik Asllani, Nicolo Tresoldi and Ferran Torres, but the Lilywhites have now allegedly made a move for a much bigger name.
Tottenham make initial approach to sign Victor Osimhen
Journalist Ekrem Konur has now revealed that Tottenham have made an initial approach for Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen, with the North Londoners allegedly willing to put £50m-£55m on the table.
However, this is not expected to be enough to clinch the deal, with Gala valuing the Nigeria international at £65m.
The Lilywhites could face competition for Osimhen, with Man Utd, Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid also keeping an eye on his situation.
Konnur wrote on X: “Tottenham have made an initial approach worth £50m-£55m for Galatasaray striker Osimhen! The Turkish champions want close to £65m. Man Utd, Chelsea, and Atletico also monitor.”
Why Spurs fans must take this Osimhen update with a pinch of salt
There is no doubting Osimhen’s goalscoring prowess, with the striker having netted 22 goals in 33 games last season, and 59 in 74 matches in total for the Turkish club.
However, no reliable Tottenham Hotspur source has named the 27-year-old among the club’s top striker targets.
Additionally, given that Galatasaray paid €75m (£64m) to sign him last summer, it would be surprising if they are willing to let the former Napoli man leave without making much of a profit.
