Tottenham Hotspur are readying an opening offer for a Turkish attacker after seeing Everton fail with a proposal for the player.
Tottenham are looking to make multiple reinforcements to their forward line before the window slams shut, and big names such as Savinho and Cody Gakpo continue to be heavily linked with a move to Spurs.
However, with just weeks left in the transfer window, it has been widely reported that the Lilywhites are also studying other alternative wingers, particularly as their negotiations with City over Savinho continue to drag on.
It emerged a few days ago that Roberto De Zerbi’s side are battling Everton for a Galatasaray star, who scored 12 goals for the Turkish giants last season.
Tottenham readying offer for Baris Alper Yilmaz
The player in question is Turkish international Baris Alper Yilmaz, who has forged a reputation as one of the finest attackers in the Super Lig over the last few years.
A new report in ABC Gazetesi confirms that the Lilywhites and the Toffees are both keen on securing the 26-year-old.
In fact, the outlet claims that Spurs are the ones to watch in the transfer race, having shown ‘the most serious’ interest in Yilmaz this summer.
The report adds that Tottenham are now preparing an offer for the left-winger, which could reach the €50m (£42.8m) mark and test Galatasaray’s resolve.
Galatasaray have already turned down an offer for Yilmaz this summer
ABC Gazetesi reveal that Everton have already made a verbal offer of €35m (£30m) for Yilmaz, who has two years left on his contract at Rams Park.
However, this was immediately rejected by Galatasaray, who have made it clear that they are only interested in ‘concrete offers’, which may now arrive from Spurs.
According to other sources, although Yilmaz is keen on moving to the Premier League, he will not force himself out of Galatasaray, with the player and his entourage happy to leave the decision to the club if an offer arrives.
