A 21-year-old winger who has been on Tottenham’s radar for a while has emerged as the Lilywhites’ preferred alternative to Savinho.
According to various sources, Spurs are continuing to work on a deal for Savinho and have not given up on the 22-year-old, even though Tottenham’s patience now appears to be wearing thin.
This is because Man City’s negotiating tactics over the Brazilian have left Tottenham frustrated, with the Manchester club thought to have changed their asking price since initial talks between the two clubs.
Spurs have even threatened to walk away from the Savinho deal after City failed to respond within the deadline that the North London club had set.
Tottenham will pursue Antonio Nusa if they cannot land Savinho
The Times have now confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign at least two attackers before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.
They say that Savinho remains the club’s ‘key target’, but with the Lilywhites yet to agree a fee for the former Girona man, one alternative is ‘being discussed’ among the Tottenham hierarchy.
The player in question is RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, who has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs since the start of the summer.
It was alleged previously that Leipzig are demanding €60m (£51m) to let the Norway international leave the Red Bull Arena.
Spurs will face plenty of competition for Nusa
It was reported at the start of last month that Tottenham could face competition from the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, and Aston Villa for Nusa.
It was even suggested by CaughtOffside recently that the Gunners may be ready to send an opening offer for the 21-year-old Leipzig star.
De Zerbi’s men may thus have to hurry if they do not want to be beaten to the signature of the Norwegian star, who appears increasingly likely to leave the Bundesliga club over the coming weeks.
