Nottingham Forest fans’ past reaction suggests that Tottenham Hotspur are trying to sign one of their best players for the second summer in a row.
Many Tottenham Hotspur fans would remember what went down the last time their club looked to do business with Nottingham Forest last summer.
Spurs looked to sign Morgan Gibbs-White and activated his release clause, only for Forest to threaten legal action, and the entire move fell through.
However, this summer, the two sides look like they could be doing some business, with Forest keen on Lucas Bergvall and Spurs trying to sign Neco Williams.
Nottingham Forest fans have already told Tottenham all they need to know about Neco Williams
Williams was impressive for Nottingham Forest last season and was even named the club’s Player of the Season. It is not entirely shocking, given that Williams featured in every Premier League game but one last campaign, playing both at left and right back and managing two goals and three assists.
Forest fans were pleased with his overall display, even up against the goals and assists of Morgan Gibbs-White.
One fan said about the Tottenham target: “If we are looking across the whole season for consistent excellence, he is the man. Delighted, well done Neco.”
Another supporter added: “Most consistent player over the whole season, even in the hard parts, he was still performing.”
A third added: “Extremely well deserved.”
Another believed he was a seven out of ten every week last season, commenting: “Extremely consistent and apart from a couple of weeks he has been a 7 every week. To beat MGW is insane. We really need to start rewarding progression rather than defensive contributions.”
There was also a fan calling for him to sign a new contract before the likes of Tottenham snap him up: “@necowilliams please sign the extended contract until at least 2030.”
Another added: “Well deserved Neco! Mr Consistency! Thank you!”
More fans threw praise at him, with one adding: “A big congratulations to him. Winning it ahead of MGW and Anderson is extraordinary 🙌💯.” “What a season from Neco Williams 👏.”
And a final fan concluded: “Well deserved. Neco had an excellent season.”
Spurs’ interest raises questions as Forest value Williams highly
Of course, it is an impressive feat for Williams to have been named Player of the Season for Forest in a team that had Morgan Gibbs-White scoring 15 goals and registering four assists to avoid the drop.
With Spurs once again eyeing a player Forest fans consider to be their best performer, it remains to be seen whether the Tricky Trees and the Lilywhites can finally agree on a deal this time.
Many fans will remember the Gibbs-White saga of 2025, with Spurs triggering the England midfielder’s release clause, before Forest slammed the door shut.
Ironically, Tottenham are still said to be in the race to sign Gibbs-White this summer, though.
