The disappointment from Tottenham’s 3-2 loss against Aston Villa was compounded by an injury to Pedro Porro.

Sandro Tonali and Pedro Porro returned to the starting eleven for Spurs on Saturday, as fans hoped the team would finally pick up that elusive first win ahead of an extended international break.

However, it was the same old story for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who were not able to make their first-half dominance count and were punished by their opponents for their defensive lapses.

The only silver lining for the Lilywhites is that they managed to finally score in the Premier League, but their two late goals were nothing more than consolation.

Tottenham star Pedro Porro withdraws from Spain squad

To make matters worse for the Lilywhites, Porro went down unchallenged in the 19th minute and was forced off with an injury.

De Zerbi has suggested that Porro may have a hamstring issue, and the Tottenham boss is hoping that it is not too serious.

However, the injury is serious enough to rule Porro out of the upcoming Nations League fixtures, with Spain’s official website confirming that the 27-year-old has withdrawn from Luis de la Fuente’s squad.

The Tottenham right-back will spend the next three weeks at Hotspur Way recovering, with Spurs not in action until November 10.

Archie Gray needs to step up for Spurs

De Zerbi will want to have the former Sporting Lisbon man back as soon as possible, as he could help solve Tottenham’s creativity issues.

However, Porro’s absence provides an opportunity for Archie Gray to get a run in the team and build up his confidence.

While right-back may not be Grey’s preferred position, the 20-year-old’s potential is massive and game time is vital for his development.
