Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on securing the services of a goalkeeper this summer window, but have now faced a setback in the pursuit of Sunderland shot-stopper Robin Roefs.
Sunderland have certainly been one of the biggest overachievers in the Premier League this season. The Black Cats have enjoyed a stellar campaign despite only recently earning promotion, consistently punching above their weight.
Credit must go to manager Regis Le Bris, who has guided his side into 12th place and to within four points of a Conference League spot.
Their impressive displays have not gone unnoticed, and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keeping tabs on a couple of Sunderland players.

Tottenham face setback in Robin Roefs transfer pursuit
Spurs Web has already reported Tottenham’s interest in £50m Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs, who could emerge as an alternative option to Guglielmo Vicario, whose future in north London remains uncertain amid interest from Inter Milan.
However, Tottenham’s interest in the Sunderland number one may not lead to a move away from the Stadium of Light, according to reports from Football Insider.
The publication claims Sunderland are “confident” of keeping hold of goalkeeper Robin Roefs despite Spurs placing him on their shortlist.
It is explained that Sunderland is looking to convince Roefs that remaining at the Stadium of Light is the best option for his development at this stage of his career.
Spurs face major challenge in Robin Roefs chase
Spurs do have several factors working against them in their bid to secure the signature of the 23-year-old goalkeeper.
For one, Tottenham cannot currently guarantee European football next season, something Sunderland could still mathematically achieve.
It is also understood that, should Spurs fail to avoid relegation this season, their chances of signing Roefs will all but disappear.
Tottenham do, however, have a few other goalkeepers on their radar, including James Trafford and Bart Verbruggen, who they could turn to as a move for Roefs appears increasingly unlikely.
