A player who Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing for more than 12 months is now wanted by some of the biggest clubs in world football.
Spurs have spent £185m on revamping their midfield this summer, bringing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes through the door to hand Roberto De Zerbi a new double-pivot.
It appears that the Lilywhites may not be done reinforcing the middle of the park just yet, as we enter the final weeks of the window.
Some sources have said Spurs could add another central midfielder to their squad if they sell Lucas Bergvall and Pape Sarr, but the Lilywhites may struggle to push through a deal for their long-term midfield target.
Arsenal and Bayern Munich are interested in Tottenham target Morgan Gibbs-White
Some reports have claimed over recent weeks that Spurs could make another attempt to land Morgan Gibbs-White after failing to land him in controversial circumstances a year ago.
Football Insider have now confirmed that the Nottingham Forest man has attracted interest from numerous sides in Europe’s biggest leagues after his stellar performances last campaign.
The report says that numerous top clubs are continuing to monitor the 26-year-old, including Arsenal and Bayern Munich. It is revealed that the England international is ‘flattered’ by interest from the Premier League champions.
However, the website makes it clear that Gibbs-White’s decision to change his representation from CAA Stellar to ROOF this summer is not transfer-related.
Nottingham Forest will not listen to Gibbs-White offers
Football Insider also spoke to transfer market expert Pete O’Rourke, who made it clear that Forest have no intention of selling their star midfielder.
Having already sold Elliot Anderson for big money to Man City, the Midlands club are in a financially strong enough position to resist offers for Gibbs-White.
O’Rourke said: “Obviously, with the change of agents, that intensifies speculation that he potentially could be on the move as well, but I don’t think Forest will want to lose the player. They’re not actively looking to sell.
“They’re under no pressure to sell Gibbs-White either. Having already sold Elliot Anderson in this window for big money, they won’t want to lose another key man in the same window. All things point to Forest keeping Gibbs-White this summer. He’ll still have a key role to play under Oliver Glasner.
“There is always going to be interest in top players like Gibbs-White, who had a great season last year. They had this last year when he came close to joining Tottenham, but they managed to tie him down to a new contract. I don’t think Forest will be planning on any departure for Gibbs-White.”
