Spence insisted that despite his struggles at club level last season, he always believed that he could star for the Three Lions in North America.
When asked if he could envisage such a good World Cup when he struggled to get into Tottenham’s team not long ago, the full-back said (via Tom Barclay): “Yes, I could. I always believed in my ability. The difficult moments don’t define you. I worked hard. I can only thank God.”

The 25-year-old may not be a Tottenham player for long, with reports indicating that the Lilywhites are ready to cash in on Spence this summer.
According to reports, Roberto De Zerbi has informed the full-back that he is not part of his long-term plans, and that he is free to explore other opportunities.
