Tottenham’s new goalkeeper plan revealed, and it may involve Anton Kinsky and Lucas Chevalier

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to soon step up their plans to sign a new goalkeeper, with a 24-year-old high on their wishlist.

Several goalkeepers have been mooted as possible targets for Spurs over the last few months, especially as it has become increasingly clear that Guglielmo Vicario does not have a future at the club.

Roberto De Zerbi gave Antonin Kinsky the nod to start over the Italy international in Spurs’ final three league games of the season, with the Czech shot-stopper playing a key role in keeping the club in the Premier League.

Vicario continues to be linked with a return to Serie A, having already excelled in the Italian top-flight for Empoli ahead of his switch to North London three years ago.

Is Antonin Kinsky likely to be made Tottenham’s number one next season?

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now backed Vicario to head back to Italian football, revealing that Juventus and Inter Milan are continuing to eye the 29-year-old.

However, the journalist suggested that De Zerbi’s men are more likely to sign a new number one this summer rather than persisting with Kinsky as their first choice.

Jacobs told Last Word On Spurs: “Yeah, they need to look at the goalkeeper situation. Vicario has interest from both Inter and Juventus. It’s great, by the way, to see Anton Kinsky in form and having played a major role in Tottenham staying up. He made some outstanding saves.

“So under Igor Tudor it felt like he was going to go, but now I think it’s a different situation and Tottenham still back Kinsky to succeed – but could add, of course, a number one goalkeeper; in fact, very likely will.”

Spurs handed James Trafford blow but Frenchman remains a target

It has been widely reported over the last few months that Tottenham are eyeing a move for James Trafford, while some sources have claimed over recent weeks that Spurs have also explored a deal for PSG’s Lucas Chevalier.

Jacobs confirmed that the Frenchman’s name is indeed on the Lilywhites’ wishlist, but he suggested that the Man City goalkeeper is more likely to end up at St James’ Park than N17 this summer.

The journalist added about Tottenham’s goalkeeper search: “Lucas Chevalier is one name. He joined PSG as a number one goalkeeper and very quickly didn’t become the number one goalkeeper, and now the player is looking to leave.

“They have explored James Trafford as well, but I would say at the moment Newcastle can be considered as the front runners there.”
