Roberto De Zerbi’s men are set to receive a double boost as they prepare to host Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Spurs face a huge clash against the Villans before the three-week international break, with both sides searching for their first win of the Premier League campaign.

Tottenham fans are desperate to see their side score a goal, with the Lilywhites yet to find the back of the net in six hours of league football this season.

De Zerbi is confident that it is only a matter of time before the floodgates open in front of goal for his side, but there is no doubt that the Italian will be under immense pressure if Spurs go another game without scoring.

Sandro Tonali and Pedro Porro back in training for Tottenham

Apart from their four long-term injury absentees, Xavi Simons, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert, and Mykhailo Mudryk, Spurs were also without Sandro Tonali and Pedro Porro at Anfield on Tuesday.

Speaking after the Carabao Cup clash, De Zerbi was confident that Porro would be fit to face Aston Villa on Saturday.

Tottenham have now released images of their training session at Hotspur Way on Thursday, with the Spanish full-back and the Italian midfielder both seen taking part in the session.

Both senior men could thus return to the starting eleven tomorrow as the Lilywhites look to silence their critics and get three points on the board for the first time this campaign.

Will we see a Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali double-pivot for the first time?

De Zerbi has played Mateus Fernandes as a number 10 on a couple of occasions this season, but Tottenham got much more control in the middle of the park when the 22-year-old came on and played in a deeper role against Liverpool.

With Rodrigo Bentancur having started against Everton as well as the Reds, there is a chance that we will see a Tonali-Fernandes double pivot for the first time against Villa.

However, De Zerbi has admitted that James Maddison is not ready to start matches in the Premier League, which is why we could see Conor Gallagher continue as a number 10, unless the Italian pulls off a surprise by playing Mohammed Kudus centrally.
