While some may have been scratching their heads at the fee Tottenham have agreed to pay for Savinho, the best manager in world football has no doubts about the winger’s potential.
The negotiations between Man City and Tottenham have been long, protracted, and extremely frustrating for the Spurs fan base, but it has now finally come to an end, with Roberto De Zerbi getting the player he wants.
Spurs have agreed to pay £85m, including add-ons, for the Brazilian international, which is much higher than what Tottenham fans would have expected at the start of the summer.
The reaction on social media from opposition fans has been bewilderment at the transfer fee, given the winger’s sparse output in the Premier League, but there is no doubt about his potential.

Pep Guardiola backs new Tottenham signing Savinho to become an ‘unbelievable’ winger
It is not just De Zerbi who seems to rate the 22-year-old highly, but also the man who signed him at City and worked with him for two years.
Back in February, Guardiola was asked about Savinho, and the Spanish coach had some huge words of praise for his player.
Guardiola said at the time: “When Savio learns to make a finished product in terms of assists, he will be an unbelievable winger on both sides!”

Savinho is far better than his Man City goal output suggests
The former Girona man has been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time, with the Lilywhites first having explored a move for him last summer.
It was reported 12 months ago that Guardiola was the man who blocked Savinho’s sale, even though the North Londoners were ready to offer big money for the player last year as well.
Time will tell if Tottenham have overpaid for Savinho or not, but it is clear that he was one of De Zerbi’s top targets, and the club have rightly backed their manager.
