While Tottenham Hotspur are struggling to score goals and pick up wins, Luca Williams-Barnett and Callum Olusesi are having no such issue at U21 level.

Spurs will spend the next three weeks in the relegation zone after losing three and failing to win any of their first five Premier League matches.

Aston Villa were the latest side to inflict a home loss on Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who are staring at the possibility of another relegation fight.

As several senior Spurs stars struggle, the club’s youngsters are continuing to demonstrate that they deserve more opportunities.

Tottenham U21s come from behind to thrash Man City

Following the defeat to Villa, it has now been 48 matches since Spurs came from behind to win a match, which last happened nearly two years ago under Ange Postecoglou.

However, Tottenham’s U21S side showed that, unlike the senior team, they do have bounce-back ability, as they came from a goal down to thrash Man City 4-2 at Stevenage.

Luca Williams-Barnett equalised for Wayne Burnett’s side on 31 minutes before Miracle Adewole put them in front 10 minutes later. A Callum Olusesi brace then sealed the result for the Lilywhites youngsters.

Do Spurs youngsters deserve more of an opportunity?

Given Tottenham’s continued struggles, especially in attack, the time has perhaps come for De Zerbi to change things up and give some of the club’s young guns a go.

De Zerbi has insisted that he has not forgotten about Williams‑Barnett, but added that he is not keen on throwing the youngster into the deep end. However, the Italian may have little choice but to do so if Spurs’ forward line keeps misfiring.
