Tottenham’s Will Lankshear is continuing his rich vein of form for Oxford United, with the striker netting a brilliant brace to help his side overcome Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The 21-year-old did not have the easiest of starts to his time at Oxford, but he has come into his own over recent months, showing just why he is thought of so highly by many at Tottenham.

The Spurs academy graduate had already reached double-digit goals across all competitions ahead of this weekend and had shown signs of coming of age.

The centre-forward was once again the hero for Oxford as they thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 4-1 at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

Lankshear led the line once again for Oxford against Wednesday, and it only took him five minutes to make a mark on the game.

The striker produced an excellent back heel finish through the goalkeeper’s legs after getting on the end of a low cross from the right.

The Spurs man then scored an even better goal on 27 minutes, cutting in from the left to curl a shot into the top corner from around 25 yards out.

Lankshear is generating transfer interest but Spurs may have other plans

It was reported by Football Insider last month that Middlesbrough were willing to sanction a loan-to-buy deal worth around £15m for Lankshear, but their interest was knocked back by Spurs.

It has been suggested over recent weeks that bigger clubs than Oxford are queuing up to land the Spurs academy graduate ahead of the summer window.

However, Spots Boom have reported that Tottenham want to keep Lankshear at the club next season if they get relegated, with the Lilywhites wanting the striker to spearhead their push for promotion if the worst happens.
