Tottenham wide forward target Cody Gakpo is now actively pushing for a move away from Liverpool this summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur have certainly splashed the cash this summer transfer window, having purchased six new players for £237 million.

However, after the sale of 10 stars this summer, the Lilywhites have technically spent just £32 million, with their sales coming up to £204.2 million this transfer window.

Attention is now expected to turn to new additions, with the forward position the main focus for Spurs before the transfer window slams shut in less than a month.

Tottenham push ahead as Roberto De Zerbi targets Cody Gakpo deal

Tottenham have Cody Gakpo on their radar this summer, and their interest in the Dutchman has certainly intensified in the last few weeks.

Roberto De Zerbi is a fan of the Liverpool man, while Spurs have made contact with the 27-year-old as they pursue a deal.

Fresh reports from TeamTalk now state that Gakpo has made it clear to Liverpool that he wants to leave the club and join De Zerbi’s Tottenham this summer.

It is explained that Gakpo’s representatives have already agreed personal terms in principle with Tottenham and have also taken the next step by speaking directly with Liverpool’s hierarchy to make the player’s position clear.

Spurs confident as Gakpo camp impressed but Liverpool hold firm

This comes after talks with De Zerbi, who made it clear to the winger’s camp just how important he could be to his plans in north London.

The Liverpool star is said to be hugely “impressed” by what he has heard from the Tottenham boss and believes the opportunity to play a major role in De Zerbi’s project is particularly attractive.

However, while talks have taken place with the winger’s camp, TeamTalk reports that no offer has been made by Tottenham.

It is also explained that the Reds want more than £60 million before they would consider allowing Gakpo to leave, while Tottenham are prepared to meet that valuation with their upcoming bid.

Interestingly, other sources have reported that Tottenham have already made a £60m bid for Gakpo.
