Tottenham Hotspur could have two new debutants soon, as Omar Marmoush is now on the verge of following Savinho to Hotspur Way.
Spurs have agreed to pay £85m, including add-ons, for the signing of Savinho, and the winger thus did not feature in Man City’s matchday squad for their Premier League opener on Sunday.
While Marmoush was an unused substitute for City against Bournemouth, reports indicate that Tottenham have also reached a full agreement with the Manchester club over the 27-year-old’s transfer.
The forward is set to join Roberto De Zerbi’s side on an initial loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause worth £50m next summer, and he may not wait a long time for his debut.
Savinho and Omar Marmoush could make Tottenham debuts on Wednesday
The Standard have revealed that the 27-year-old striker will undergo his medical at Hotspur Way today before sealing the transfer.
Tottenham host Charlton in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, and as long as both Marmoush and Savinho are registered before the cup tie, they can both be involved in the London derby.
The winger and the forward would have to be registered before 12 pm BST on Friday to have them available for selection for the Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.
That means both players are almost certain to be involved against the Magpies if they are not already included in the squad for the League Cup clash.
Could Savinho and Marmoush be in line to start against Newcastle?
Tottenham are still nursing several injuries to their attack, with Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski having been out of action for a long time.
Additionally, it is unclear if either Dominic Solanke or James Maddison is fit enough to play from the start yet, with both players’ fitness and workloads being managed very carefully across pre-season.
One would not be surprised if De Zerbi hands both new signings a start in Tottenham’s first home Premier League game of the season.
