Xavi Simons has reflected on Tottenham’s struggles, as well as his own last season, and has made a big prediction regarding what lies ahead for him and his teammates.
The attacking midfielder arrived in North London with a big reputation but struggled to make an impact in the first half of the campaign.
That was partly down to the 22-year-old adjusting to the pace and physicality of Premier League football, and perhaps also because Spurs were struggling as an attacking unit under Thomas Frank.
It was only after the arrival of De Zerbi that we started to see the 22-year-old produce the kind of magic he was known for, although an injury cut short his campaign.

After picking up an ACL injury against Wolves, the Dutchman had to watch on from the sidelines as his teammates battled for their lives down the bottom of the table.
In the end, Tottenham avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth, beating Everton on the final day of the campaign to secure their top-flight status.
The club have subsequently invested considerably in the squad this summer, and Xavi believes that the future will be rosy for the Lilywhites after their wake-up call last season.
The 22-year-old told The Athletic: “This season taught me a lot, especially when things were not going well. I never experienced this situation. For everyone, it was a wake-up call that things have to go better. More beautiful stuff is waiting for us in the future.”
Xavi reveals what went through his mind after ACL injury
Xavi has teased Spurs fans already about his injury return, but he is expected to be out of action for at least a few more months.
The attacking midfielder confessed that when he first sustained the injury back in April, he only expected to be out for a few more weeks, and was distraught when he eventually got to know of the seriousness of the issue.
Speaking about his injury, Xavi said: “I called my mum and said, ‘Maybe it is like (Cristian Romero’s) injury where it was only four or five weeks’, but the next day when I did the test I couldn’t walk. I received the call from the club, and that was the moment everything was sinking.”
However, a few months on, the 22-year-old is in a much better mood, with Xavi voicing his ambition to win silverware at Tottenham.
