The Lewis Family have no interest in selling Tottenham Hotspur, and this could provide a hint about where their priorities lie.
Not so long ago, it looked like nothing would change at Tottenham Hotspur and Daniel Levy seemed untouchable. He was the longest serving chairman in the Premier League and the highest paid.
There were plenty of organised fan protests, but these were largely focused on getting Levy to prioritise football, rather than demanding his resignation.
However, rumours began to emerge about the future of both Levy and the club’s majority shareholders. The Levy reports proved true, as he was removed as chairman after a bizarre summer transfer window and there have been developments regarding ENIC as well.
There is now a story unfolding about the possibility of Spurs being sold by a US consortium led by Brooklyn Earick. Lewis Family sources confirmed that informal takeover interest had been submitted to Tottenham, but ENIC have no intentions of selling the club.

The Lewis Family have ambition where Daniel Levy did not
When the Lewis Family comes to mind, many will think of Joe Lewis, a man who has often faced criticism alongside Levy. However, Lewis’ children have grown in influence and pushed for Lervy’s departure.
Tottenham are switching from an all-powerful executive chairman model to an executive team with power sharing. This will keep Spurs from prioritising personal interests over the main purpose of the club, which is to win trophies and have footballing success.
The fact the Lewis Family have rejected such a hefty offer shows there is ambition to do more than line their pockets. A £4.5bn payday would usually be welcomed, so there must be more motives to reject such an offer than using the club as a money-making scheme.
Levy was fired because of the club’s lack of success on the pitch. It would appear the next generation of the Lewis family are just as eager as the average Tottenham fan to see the club make their Europa League heroics the norm.
Rich owners do not guarantee success
Brooklyn Earick is a rich man who is apparently willing to invest £1.2bn to improve the Tottenham first-team squad. However, it remains to be seen what he actually knows about Spurs as a football club. The idea of spending heaps of money on players sounds good, but there are financial regulations which Tottenham do not want to fall foul of.
As well as this, blind spending does not always result in something good. Todd Boehly has spent big at Chelsea, but there has always been a lack of direction since he took over at the Blues. They may have won the Club World Cup, but the Premier League and Champions League are the competitions which matter.
Spurs can make a fresh start with different members of the Lewis Family, Peter Charrington and CEO Vinai Venkatesham.
Hopefully, they will continue to show the ambition required to achieve on-field success, resulting in Tottenham not just being a big commercial name, but a football club their supporters can proudly get behind.
