Tottenham Hotspur fans may not have to wait long to see their latest blockbuster signing in action after Savio’s registration was confirmed.
It was a long transfer saga for Tottenham in their pursuit of the winger, who they had been chasing for more than a year, but one that finally ended in the club’s favour as Savio was confirmed as a Tottenham player this morning.
The deal cost Spurs £85m, while they are also waiting for his former Manchester City teammate Omar Marmoush to be officially announced after agreeing a deal for the Egyptian on Sunday.
Savio, who has asked to be referred to by his actual first name, should provide some much-needed firepower to De Zerbi’s front three, which looked badly short of it during their 3-0 defeat to Brentford on opening day.

Savio is eligible to play for Tottenham vs Charlton Athletic
Savio has made it clear that he is excited about joining Tottenham, and he could get his first opportunity almost immediately.
Tottenham face Charlton Athletic in the second round of the Carabao Cup tomorrow night, and Alasdair Gold has just confirmed that Savio has completed his registration with the Premier League and FA.
That means the 22-year-old is eligible to make his Spurs debut against Charlton.
The Brazilian will likely make a substitute appearance rather than start, given he will have had very little time to train with his new teammates before the game.
That said, getting his first taste of competitive action would definitely help Savio get up to speed ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Newcastle United, where he could potentially be handed his first Tottenham start.
Savio reveals why he chose Tottenham
Shortly after his move was confirmed, Savio completed his first Tottenham interview, in which he explained why he chose to switch to North London.
Speaking to the club’s official channels, the Brazilian said:
“It took a while, but I’m here. Yeah, I’m very happy. I think everyone in my family knows that when Tottenham looked for me, I always wanted to be here. But now I’m here, I’m very happy, my family is happy, which is what matters. And I just have to thank God for this wonderful opportunity.
“Well, Tottenham has everything. It has one of the best managers in the world, it has the best training ground in the world, it has the best stadium in the world.
“Whenever I came to play against Tottenham here, I always talked to my representative about the club. And when he said that the club was interested in me, I was very happy. And as I said, I always wanted to be here now.”
