Savinho’s former teammate Xavi Simons has now sent him a welcome message following his £85 million move to Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the busier sides this summer transfer window, with their activity stretching into the final few days of the transfer market.

The Lilywhites only just completed their seventh signing of the summer after agreeing an £85 million deal with Manchester City for the transfer of Brazilian winger Savinho.

This latest addition now takes Spurs’ summer spend to £322 million, the most ever spent on recruits in a single transfer window.

Agent Xavi Simons sends welcome message to Tottenham’s £85m signing Savinho

Landing the Brazilian was certainly no easy task, with the Lilywhites having to remain persistent after first showing interest last summer.

Savinho was convinced to remain in Manchester last year by former coach Pep Guardiola, but with City now entering a new era of their own, a move was finally sanctioned.

Xavi Simons was also vocal in his support for the deal, with the Dutchman consistently dropping hints that his former PSV teammate was edging closer to a move.

Back in July, when a Tottenham fan asked Simons on his TikTok profile if Savinho is coming to Tottenham to play with him, the 22-year-old ‘liked’ the post and responded with the eyes emoji.

With the Brazilian now confirmed as a Tottenham player, Spurs have given Simons his flowers and allowed him to send a message to his former teammate in the club’s announcement video.

In a message to Savinho, the Tottenham playmaker said: “Of course it had to be me! Actually… I insisted. Savinho. Irmao. Welcome to Spurs, bro. I’m happy you’re finally here. You’re going to love it.

“The Tottenham fans have been so good with me since I joined. And when they see you play. I know they’re going to love you too. I’m working hard every day to get back.

“But soon, when we’re both in the squad, and on the pitch… I just can’t wait. For now, I’ll just watch you, and I’ll support you. And anything you need? I’ve got you.

“And I know everyone here will do the same. So enjoy it, Irmao. I’m really looking forward to celebrating together with you. This is yours now too.”

Spurs prepare for Savinho debut as Simons’ recovery continues

Simons remains out as he continues to recover from the ACL injury he picked up at the back end of last season.

However, a return is not too far off, with the Dutchman expected to be back in action early next year. But while he waits in the wings, Spurs will not hesitate to throw their latest signing right into the mix.

Savinho’s debut could come this midweek, with Tottenham facing Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

And if that clash is too soon for the Brazilian, then his first Spurs game could come at the weekend when Tottenham takes on Newcastle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
