Alfie Devine has said his goodbyes to Tottenham Hotspur after sealing a permanent switch to Preston North End.
Devine has made a £6m switch to Preston, bringing to an end his six-year stay with Tottenham, having joined the club from Wigan Athletic’s academy as a teenager.
The attacking midfielder will return to Deepdale on the back of his breakout season last term, where he registered 14 goal contributions.
The 21-year-old may not have lived up to the expectations that some at Hotspur Way had of him, but one would not rule out the possibility of him returning to the Premier League in the future if he builds on last season’s performances at Deepdale.

Alfie Devine admits he will cherish his time at Tottenham forever
The midfielder leaves Spurs with just two senior appearances under his belt but also as the club’s youngest goalscorer in history after he found the back of the net in his debut against Marine in 2021, aged just 16 years and 163 days old.
Devine took to social media to thank those who have helped him across his six years in North London, and admitted that he will always look back fondly on his time with Spurs.
The youngster wrote on Instagram: “My time at this club has come to an end after 6 years of memories, experience and learning. Huge thanks to everyone involved with my time here, and something I’ll cherish forever. Thank you.”
Spurs have already recouped a big portion of their summer spend
It has been well documented that Tottenham have already spent £237m on their six new signings, which is a club record for money spent in a single window.
However, the sale of Devine, Radu Dragusin, Luka Vuskovic and Alejo Veliz has already raked in £85m so far, meaning that Spurs now have a net spend of £152m this window.
With the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon, Cristian Romero, Pape Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, and Richarlison potentially on their way out, Tottenham will likely have the flexibility to continue spending big this summer.
