Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to Folarin Balogun as they look to add firepower to their forward line ahead of the new season.
It first emerged last week that Balogun is seen as an ‘attractive option’ for Spurs after he was offered to them on a discounted fee.
On Tuesday evening, L’Equipe claimed that Tottenham have begun discussions with Monaco over a deal for the USA international, who was the subject of intense interest from the Premier League side.
However, the French outlet suggested that far from it being a discounted deal, the Lilywhites were laying the groundwork for a €60m (£51m) agreement for Balogun.

However, L’Equipe’s information has now been contradicted by transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, who claimed that there are no advanced talks between Spurs and Monaco over the 25-year-old at this stage.
The journalist revealed that several clubs, including Saudi Pro League sides as well as Turkish side Galatasaray, are keeping themselves informed on the conditions of a deal for Balogun.
Romano wrote on X: “Several clubs have called over recent days for Folarin Balogun, including Galatasaray and Saudi clubs informed on deal conditions from AS Monaco. Nothing concrete or advanced with Tottenham at this stage.”

Whether or not Spurs substantiate their interest in the Monaco star or any other number nine could depend on the future of Richarlison.
A couple of weeks ago, De Zerbi admitted that Richarlison is unsure if he wants to stay at Tottenham or leave the club this summer.
