A centre-forward who found the back of the net three times in the recent World Cup has now been offered to Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham are no longer expected to make a move for their top striker target Eli Junior Kroupi this summer, after the Frenchman picked up a foot injury, which is expected to sideline him for three or four months.
That has put the North London club back to square one in their search for a new number nine, especially after De Zerbi insisted last week Spurs will prioritise deals for their top targets, rather than settling for backup options.
Nicolo Tresoldi, Fisnik Asllani and Ferran Torres have been mooted as potential targets for Tottenham, and the Lilywhites have now allegedly been handed a chance to land a 25-year-old.
Monaco star Folarin Balogun has been offered to Tottenham
According to The Sun, Folarin Balogun, who acquired hero status in the United States during their run to the round of 16 stage of the World Cup, has now been offered to Spurs.
The report says that De Zerbi’s side continue to be on the lookout for a quality striker to compete with Dominic Solanke and provide some squad depth.
Balogun, who came through the ranks at Arsenal and ended his 15-year stay at the Gunners with a move to Monaco in 2023, has now been offered by intermediaries to the Lilywhites.
In fact, the report says that the 25-year-old’s own representatives have also approached Tottenham directly, and his availability for a ‘competitive fee’ has made him an ‘attractive option worthy of serious consideration’ for the Premier League side.
Chelsea striker also offered to Spurs via intermediaries
Over the past couple of days, some reports have claimed that Tottenham have expressed an interest in Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who is back with the Blues for pre-season after an unsuccessful loan spell at Bayern Munich.
In this latest update, The Sun explain that like Balogun, Jackson was also pitched to De Zerbi’s side through intermediaries, who are aware of Tottenham’s keenness to sign a number nine.
However, Alasdair Gold has confirmed that the Chelsea striker is not one of the options on Spurs’ radar.
